“Charleston” candy has the nostalgic taste of rose-scented water and brings back old memories of things past.
This traditional type of candy has its roots in the areas of Smyrna and Cappadocia in Asia Minor. The candy was originally a treat offered to guests when welcoming them, but it was also sought after by children when offered by grandma.
Its dream-like taste brings us memories of fairy-tales and joyful moments.
The recipe is a well kept secret that was brought back from Smyrna, and continued being manually confectioned in Greece, using aromatic essences and finally swept in paper.
This candy called “Charleston” is easy to transport with no need of refrigeration, because it doesn`t get affected by either low or high temperatures (up to 40° C).
It is traditionally made and it is being exported all over the world.
